In order to vote in the State of Wisconsin, you must be registered. Registration is encouraged throughout the year although you may register on Election Day at the polling location.

Qualified Electors
  • A United States citizen
  • At least 18 years of age on Election Day
  • A resident of the City of Fort Atkinson for at least 10 days prior to an election
When can I register to vote?
By mail. Up to 20 days before the election. Registration forms should be mailed to your Municipal Clerk. You can start your voter registration form online at myvote.wi.gov. Your form must be printed, signed and mailed or delivered to your Municipal Clerk. You must always provide a Proof of Residence document when registering. If you are registering by mail, you can use any of the forms of Proof of Residence except a residential lease.

In the Municipal Clerk's Office.
You may register in-person in your Municipal Clerk's office up until the Friday before the election at 5:00 pm. You must always provide a Proof of Residence document when registering to vote.

At the Polling Place on Election Day. You may register at the polls on Election Day. You must always provide a Proof of Residence document when registering to vote. Please bring a completed Voter Registration Application with you on election day. Please also be prepared to stand in line to register on Election Day.

Changing your Name or Address
A new Voter Registration Application is needed to change your existing voter record. This can be done on Election Day although it is encouraged to be done prior to Election Day. You must always provide a Proof of Residence document when registering to vote.

What do I need to bring to register to vote?
If you have been issued a State of Wisconsin Driver License or ID card that is current and valid, you must provide the number and expiration date.  How do I get a free State ID card?
You must provide Proof of Residence document.
