c. Beginning July 14th continuing until at least July 25th the city will begin picking up sandbags with end loaders, skid steers and dump trucks.
2. It will be the responsibility of all homeowners and businesses to remove the sand bags from their property and deposited into the designated areas.

b. 758 N Watertown Ave, the former Foerster Landscape Property.
c. The hours for the centers are 8:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday, 8:00am-2:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
5. Volunteers are needed to man the centers. You can do so by calling 674-6890. You must be 18 years or older.
6. Clean up kits, gloves, water, bug spray, snacks etc can be picked up at the Public Assistant Centers listed in number 4 above. Water and Clean up kits will also be available at the City Hall in the gymnasium Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.
7. As the clean up process begins there are a few very important things to pay close attention to. First, be sure you know there is no hazard of electrical shock prior to entering any standing water in your home. If you are unsure of this contact WE Energies to disconnect the power in your home. If any of your homes electrical system was exposed to water have a licenses electrician or the City Building Inspector review the effected parts. Re-energization of your homes electrical system should only be attempted after the City Building Inspectors Office has reviewed it. The Building inspector can be reached at 920-563-7760 and initial reviews of flood damaged electrical systems will be done free of charge. In the event that electrical systems need replacement, permits and inspections may be required. Any replacement of electrical components must be done either by the homeowner or a licensed electrician. Re-energization of your homes electrical system without proper care could result in electrical shock, fire or both. Gas appliances, which were inundated by flood water, also need to be cleaned and serviced by a licenses persons prior to attempting reconnection with gas contact WE Energies with any questions regarding restoration of your gas service.
8. Strategic placement of Roll-Off open top dumpsters, will be assigned to specific areas, on July 11-14th. These dumpsters are only to be used by residents for water damaged furnishings and will be removed on July 14th. This will help the self policing of containers, and give a clear time frame for clean up to effected residents.
We recommend the communication to the residents of these areas in advance so they can plan their concentrated efforts for the time planned. This should also help limit the abuse of the service being provided.
As a secondary measure, Veolia will offer the placement of designated Roll-Off open top containers at its Klement Street transfer station facility the week of July 14-19 for an overflow to affected residents who can not complete their projects on the previous week. These containers will be available during the established business hours of the transfer station 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00am-12:00pm on Saturday. Veolia personal will police the usage of these containers.
For the benefit of the City, its residents and Veolia's employees we would like to limit the regular & bulk waste removal service to its normal volumes, and address the excess caused by flooding in the ways described above.
9. For Nursing Homes and Businesses if you have space in your parking lot you can pile sand bags there for pick up. Just make sure we have access on two sides for our equipment. Exceptions could be made if warranted. Contact the Public Works at 920-563-7760 if you want this service.
10. The Fort Atkinson Fire Department was a designated distribution center by Jefferson County for the distribution of sand bags. As such we were advised to collect $.25 per sand bag. Jefferson County Emergency Management now has advised us that the money the City of Fort Atkinson collected is Jefferson County's money and we can not refund that money back to the people who purchased sand bags. The city was not charged for the sand bags from the County. Therefore, we will be turning the money to Jefferson County.
11. For "Coping with Cleanup" see the county website at www.co.jefferson.wi.us
NOTE: For a successful clean up it is extremely important to follow the above procedure. Make sure sand bags are in the roadway within the designated areas and only sandbags not plastic or other flood damaged home furnishings.
