City of Fort Atkinson Stormwater Management Plan
The City of Fort Atkinson has been issued a Stormwater Phase II Permit so they can comply with the Final Rule implemented by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Clean Water Act. This rule requires the City to comply with Stormwater Regulations as administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
The City received their Phase II Permit under the Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) Permit No. WI-S0550075-1 in November, 2006. The City is required to control the quality and quantity of storm water runoff according to these State and Federal Requirements.
The Stormwater Phase II Permit requires:
- Construction Site Pollutant Control
- Post-Construction Storm Water Management
- Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
- Pollution Prevention
- Storm Water Quality Management
- Public Education and Outreach
- Public Involvement and Participation
- Annual Report
The City is currently developing a Storm Water Management Plan that will address the Phase II requirements. The Plan will provide methods of complying with the regulations to manage storm water quantity and quality, including mapping, construction, and operating and maintaining the system; develop ordinances; and develop public education and involvement programs.
