Winter Parking Regulations - Alternate Side Parking

Effective December 1 the City's alternate side parking ordinance goes into effect. No person is allowed to park or leave any unattended vehicle on the street between the hours of 2:00 am and 6:00 am unless the vehicle is parked on the even-numbered side of the street on even-numbered days and on the odd-numbered side of the street on odd-numbered days. The even or odd house numbers on each street determines the "numbered side of the street." Per the ordinance, the day begins at 12:01 am. The parking restriction is effective from December 1 to March 15. Any vehicle that is parked in violation of this ordinance shall be ticketed and may be towed at the owner's risk and cost. The fine for violating the alternate side parking ordinance is not less than $10.00 but not more than $25.00, plus any towing charges.

Also, when two or more inches of snow are forecast, a snow emergency will be in effect and all vehicles must be removed from the streets until the streets are cleared of snow. In addition to the newspaper and radio, snow emergencies are declared by the use of lighted pylons at five locations throughout the City.
